Ramgarh is the smallest district in Jharkhand by area, located in the central part of the state. Surrounded by hills and cut by major rivers, it has historically served as a gateway between Ranchi and the northern plains.

The district is globally recognized for the Chhinnamasta Temple at Rajrappa, situated at the scenic confluence of the Damodar and Bhairavi rivers. It is also famous for the Patratu Valley, which features winding, loop roads surrounded by green hills.

Historically, Ramgarh was the seat of the Ramgarh Raj and host of the famous 1940 Indian National Congress session. Today, it hosts the Sikh and Punjab Regiment Centers.
