"Lohardaga woh dharti hai jahan laal mitti aur kala paththar desh ki pragati ka aadhar bante hain."

Lohardaga is located in the western part of the Chotanagpur plateau, famous for holding some of the richest bauxite deposits in the world. Originally a sub-division of Ranchi, it was declared a district in 1983.

The name Lohardaga is believed to be derived from 'Lohar' (iron smelters) and 'Daga' (merchant center). The local geology features stunning red soils and deep laterite cliffs that give the landscape a distinct fiery color.

Aside from mining, the district offers untouched waterfalls like Kekrang, spiritual shrines like Shiva Mandir Khakparta, and the natural spring of Dharidiri.
