2. How to Reach
Aizawl acts as the central hub for the entire state. All transport routes radiating to the southern and eastern districts begin here.

Lengpui Airport (AJL): Located 32 km (approx 1 hour) from Aizawl. It is connected by daily direct flights to Kolkata, Guwahati, and Imphal. Pre-paid taxis and shared cars are available at the airport to reach Aizawl city.
🚊 By Rail
Silchar Railway Station (Assam): The nearest major railhead, located 175 km from Aizawl. Shared Sumos operate from Silchar to Aizawl (6-8 hours drive). Bairabi railhead is inside Mizoram but has very limited passenger service.
🚗 By Road
NH30 / Vairengte Route: Connects Silchar to Aizawl. The road climbs steadily through forested ridges. Roads inside Mizoram are winding and can be slow, but NH30 is generally well-maintained outside of monsoon landslides.
3. Shared Sumos & Local Transit
Due to the hilly terrain, shared passenger utility vehicles (Tata Sumos) are the lifeline of public transit in Mizoram. Private self-drive rentals are practically non-existent.
Sumo Stands & Scheduling
