Lohit District
Parshuram Kund (Wakro)
Situated on the lower reaches of the Lohit River near Wakro, Parshuram Kund is one of Eastern India's most sacred pilgrimage sites. According to the Kalika Purana, Sage Parshuram—the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu—washed his bloodstained battle-axe (Parshu) in this icy river basin to atone for the sin of matricide commanded by his father Sage Jamadagni. Every January on Makar Sankranti, over 100,000 devotees converge here for holy dips to wash away sins and invoke spiritual purification.

Malinithan Temple Ruins (Likabali)
Perched on a serene hillock overlooking the Brahmaputra plains in Likabali, Malinithan is a 14th-century granite stone temple complex excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). According to regional legends, Lord Krishna and Rukmini rested here on their return from Bhismaknagar; Goddess Parvati greeted them with exquisite floral garlands, earning the divine title Malini. Excavations revealed intricately carved sculptures of Goddess Durga, Indra riding Airavata, Surya on a seven-horse chariot, and classical erotic motifs.
